The Cougars and Saints split the first two completed doubles matches before the USF tandem of Chad Randall and Lucas Randall fell 8-6 at the No. 3 slot, giving Chicago State the doubles point for the match, which was played under NCAA Division I team-scoring rules.
Four of five Cougars won their singles matches in straight sets. Sergiu Muresan (Roman, Romania) took home his singles match at the No.1 spot 7-5, 6-3. Mario Noboa (Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador) beat Alex Haizel 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. Christian Gonzalez (Mungia, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) fell in his singles match 2-6, 7-5, and 7-5. Julian Chavez (Bogota, Colombia) won at No.4 singles 6-4, 6-3. Rashley Yeremia (Jakarta, Indonesia) also won his singles match 6-4, 7-5. At No.6 singles, Luis Ulloa (Guayaquil, Ecuador) defeated Chad Randall 7-5, 6-2.
