OPENING TIP – The Chicago State women's basketball team finishes off a three-game homestand Saturday afternoon at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center when it hosts Big 12 Conference member Kansas State in a WAC Digital Network broadcast beginning at 2 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU – CSU has posted a 1-6 season record that includes a 1-2 home record going into Saturday's showdown and dropped a close 66-60 home decision to Bradley on Wednesday. Freshman guard/forward Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) paced the Green and White against BU with a season-high 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting off the bench. Allen leads the Cougars in scoring with an average of 14.8 points a game in addition to shooting a team-best 56 percent (25-of-45) from the field. Senior forward Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) currently averages 11.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest while producing four (point-rebound) double-doubles on the year.

SCOUTING KSU – Kansas State heads into the Windy City sporting a season record of 5-1 and has won its last two games following Thursday night's 61-41 win over Texas-Arlington at home. Junior center Breanna Lewis is averaging team highs of 14.5 points, 3.2 blocked shots and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 53 percent (39-of-73) from the field. Junior guard Kindred Wesemann (14.2 ppg) and senior guard Megan Deines (11.4) are also averaging double figures for the Wildcats, and sophomore guard Shaelyn Martin is posting 7.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest.

SERIES HISTORY – Saturday's game will be the first-ever meeting between Chicago State and Kansas State on the hardwood.

THE FRESHMAN 20 – Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) made history in Wednesday's game against Bradley as she tallied 21 points to become the first CSU freshman player in over eight seasons to score 20 or more points in a game. The last Cougar freshman to hit that plateau was all-time leading scorer Courtney Waldon, who tallied a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds in her first collegiate game against Milwaukee on Nov. 9, 2007.

CSU'S BLOCK PARTY – The Cougars continue to come into their own on the defensive front as they are tied with New Mexico State for first in the Western Athletic Conference in blocked shots with an average of five swats per game. Freshman Sh'Toya Sanders (Fort Wayne, Ind./Wayne) leads the WAC in blocks at 2.3 swats per game, while Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) is fifth in the league with 1.4 blocks a game.

GUNNING FOR THAT #1 SPOT – Murphy continues her ascent upwards on CSU's career record book as she is ranked third in blocked shots (99) and fifth in rebounds (665) on CSU's career record book. She is now 28 blocks and 45 rebounds shy of becoming the school record holder in both categories.

UP NEXT - The Green and White are idle for a week before returning to play on Saturday, Dec. 12 at IPFW to begin a two-game road swing before Christmas. Start time for the game is 11 a.m., Central Time.
