CHICAGO – Chicago State women's basketball made its return to Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center following a two-game road swing on Saturday afternoon but fell to visiting Oakland by a score of 74-51.
 
Freshman Sh'Toya Sanders (Fort Wayne, Ind./Wayne) led the Cougars (2-9) with a team-best 14 points on 7-of-14 shooting to go along with seven rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals. Senior Jasmine Sanders (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) added 10 points for the Green and White.
 
Senior Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) grabbed a game-high eight rebounds to become the second player in the school's Division I era to produce 700 caroms as she now has amassed 702 total boards in her career to take sole possession of second place.
 
Murphy is now eight rebounds shy of breaking Deborah Scott's (1989-93) record of 709. She also finished with game highs of four steals and three blocked shots to go along with eight points and three assists.
 
Taylor Jones scored a game-high 19 points to lead three players in double figures for Oakland (6-4).
 
CSU returns to action on Monday night in downstate Normal against in-state rival Illinois State in an ESPN 3 broadcast with a start time of 7 p.m.
