Box Score
JACKSON, Miss. – Four players scored in double figures to help the Chicago State women's basketball team conclude its two-game road swing here tonight with a 76-59 victory over host Jackson State at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Activity Center.

CSU (2-8) broke a 12-12 tie with over a minute to go in the first quarter by posting a 19-7 run in six-plus minutes with freshman Tiana Thomas (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) scoring 12 points during the stretch to gain a 31-19 advantage with 4:26 left in the second stanza following a three from Thomas. The Green and White would go into intermission ahead by a 33-24 margin.

A quick 11-3 scoring drive in the opening three minutes of the third quarter hiked the Cougars' leading margin to 44-27 following a layup from freshman Sh'Toya Sanders (Fort Wayne, Ind./Wayne) at the 6:44 mark and the visitors went on cruise the rest of the way.

Senior Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) recorded game highs of 17 points and 11 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the year in addition to dishing out a season high-tying five assists to lead Chicago State. She is now 17 caroms shy of supplanting Deborah Scott (1989-93) as the school record holder in that category.

Sanders added 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and snagged six rebounds, while Thomas contributed 14 points, and freshman Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) tallied 13 points and also posted six boards for CSU.

Jackson State (4-4) was led by Kierra Adams and Derica Wiggins as both players each scored 10 points and Chelsea Caulsey grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds.

The Cougars return home to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center this Saturday afternoon with a non-conference showdown against Oakland with the opening tip set for 2 p.m.
