HTML BoxHomewood, Ill. - The Chicago State men's tennis team defeated the Roosevelt Lakers 7-0 on Thursday morning (April 3) at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet and Fitness Club.
The Cougars won all nine matches in the victory. In singles play, junior
Mario Noboa (Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador/) won 6-0, 6-1 over Matt Kuntzi at No. 1 singles. Junior
Sergiu Muresan (Roman, Romania/) dropped just two games in his 6-2, 6-0 win over Jake Cigelnik at the No. 2 flight. Juniors
Luis Ulloa (Guayaquil, Ecuador/) and
Julian Chavez (Bogota, Colombia/) were 6-2, 6-2 winners at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Freshman
Uros Pajic (Smederevo, Seribia/Maple Valley) and junior
Rashley Yeremia (Jakarta, Indonesia/) did not drop a game, winning 6-0, 6-0 in their matches.
In doubles, Muresan and Noboa shut out Carlos Alcantar and Cigelnik 8-0. Chavez and Yeremia took down Dalton Rothe and Kuntzi 8-3. Pajic and Ulloa brought home a 8-4 victory over Anthony Eudave and Tyler Weber to wrap up the scoring.
The Cougars improve to 4-17 on the season. They return to the court in a few hours to take on the Ball State Cardinals at Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet and Fitness Club. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
