DeShaunte Lewis (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly) set a school record in the 1500 meter run for the Cougars at the 2014 SIUE Gateway Invite on Saturday (April 19).
Lewis was 12th in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:58.69. The 11-year old record was previously held by David Comisky (4:01.60).
Khalil Tookes (Ambridge, Pa./Ambridge Area ) picked up a 12th place performance in the 400 meter dash, stopping the clock in 50.96.
In the long jump, sophomore
Kory Jackson (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) was eighth (6.66 meters) and sophomore Kamerson Jackson was ninth (6.51 meters).
Kameron Jackson (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) turned in a 12th place showing in the triple jump (13.00 meters).
The Cougars earned a seventh place finish in the javelin thanks to senior
Samuel McKinney (St. Charles, Iowa/Interstate 35)'s 53.88 meter toss.
The Cougars finished in 10th place with nine points.
Chicago State is back on the track April 24-26 at the Drake Relays.
