CHICAGO - The Kansas City Roos defeated the Chicago State women's basketball team 84-52 at the Jones Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 8).

Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the loss. Sophomore
Jasmine Sanders (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) added in nine points, three rebounds and three steals for Chicago State.
Kansas City started the game on a 22-4 run and went into halftime with a 46-21 lead. They shot 19-37 (51.4 percent) from the floor in the first half. They continued their hot shooting in the second stanza shooting 16-32 (50.0 percent) never allowing the Cougars to get back in the game.
Kim Nezianya led the Roos with 19 points and 17 rebounds. Eilise O'Connor had 16 points, 10 assists, three steals and a block in the victory.
Chicago State falls to 3-19 on the season and 0-9 in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Kansas City improves to 8-14 and 4-5 in conference play. The Cougars continue their three game homestand next week when they take on the UTPA Broncs. The Broncs took the first meeting against CSU 66-44 on Jan. 18. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
