Chicago State Women’s Basketball Outlast St. Joseph’s 61-58

Box Score CHICAGO - The Chicago State women's basketball team started fast as they took a 21-10 lead with 10 minutes remaining the first half.  The Pumas fought back and was able to close the 11-point gap as they went on a 15-7 point run to close the half.  The teams went into halftime with the Cougars leading by three 28-25. 

In the second half both teams battled back and forth with no team leading the game by more than seven points.  The game was a nail bitter until the final horn. The Cougars took the lead and closed the game out with a set play call by Coach Jackson coming out of a timeout with only 38 second left.  Jaskeisha Wells scored on a high low play with the assist coming from Paris Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville) to seal the victory.  

Paris Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville) led the Cougars with 15 points.  Jakeisha Wells (Chicago, Ill./Proviso East) added 14 points, six blocks and one steal in the victory. Kalea Parks led the Pumas with 25 points, three blocks and two steals in the loss.

The Cougars secure their first victory and will play on the road versus Univerisity of Illinois Chicago on Tuesday December 13th.
