Women's Basketball Struggles in their Season Opener

Box Score CHICAGO - The Chicago State women's basketball team struggled out of the gate, as they fell to Northwestern 102-48, in their season opener.
 
Junior Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) led the team with 11 points and four rebounds.
 
Northwestern went on the 23-9 run to start the game as the Cougars struggled with 18 turnovers in the first half.
 
The Wildcats had four players in double figures led by Alex Cohen's 18 point 11 rebound double-double. Ashley Deary added 10 points, 11 steals and six assists.
 
Northwestern begins their season 1-0, as the Cougars begin 0-1. Chicago State continues their non-conference schedule against Western Illinois on Thursday (Nov. 20).
