Western Michigan Beats Chicago State Men's Tennis 7-0

Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Western Michigan Broncos defeated the Chicago State Men's Tennis team 7-0 at the West Hills Athletic Club on Monday evening (Jan. 20).

Junior Sergiu Muresan (Roman, Romania/) went down 6-4, 6-1 to Ruben Greiner while junior Mario Noboa (Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador/) lost to Stephen Payne by the same score in singles play. Michael Treis took out junior Julian Chavez (Bogota, Colombia/) 6-1, 6-1 and freshman Uros Pajic (Smederevo, Seribia/Maple Valley) succumbed to Pablo Mora 6-2, 6-2. Matt Hamilton beat junior Luis Ulloa (Guayaquil, Ecuador/) 6-1, 6-0 and junior Rashley Yeremia (Jakarta, Indonesia/) fell 6-0, 6-2 to Zach Phillips.

The combo of juniors Sergiu Muresan (Roman, Romania/) and Mario Noboa (Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador/) suffered a 6-3 loss to Nadin Indre and Stephen Payne while freshman Uros Pajic (Smederevo, Seribia/Maple Valley) and junior Luis Ulloa (Guayaquil, Ecuador/) were beaten by Michael Treis and Marc Shideler 6-1. Juniors Julian Chavez (Bogota, Colombia/) and Rashley Yeremia (Jakarta, Indonesia/) took home a 6-2 loss to Ruben Greiner and Jim Beckwith.

Chicago State falls to 0-2 in the spring while Western Michigan improved to 3-1. The Cougars get back on the court this Friday (Jan. 24) to take on Northern Illinois. The match is set to begin 5:00 PM CT.
