Evanston, Ill. – The Chicago State men's tennis team was defeated by the Northwestern Wildcats 4-0 Sunday evening (Jan. 19) at the Combre Tennis Center.
Junior
Sergiu Muresan (Roman, Romania/) was defeated at No. 1 singles by Sam Shropshire 6-0, 6-1 while at No. 2 singles junior
Julian Chavez (Bogota, Colombia/) fell to Mihir Kumar 6-1, 6-0. Junior
Luis Ulloa (Guayaquil, Ecuador/) lost to Alp Horoz 6-0, 6-2 during No. 6 singles.
At No. 2 doubles, freshman
Uros Pajic (Smederevo, Seribia/Maple Valley) and junior
Luis Ulloa (Guayaquil, Ecuador/) were beaten by Kumar and Horoz 6-0. Juniors
Rashley Yeremia (Jakarta, Indonesia/) and
Julian Chavez (Bogota, Colombia/) were taken down by Alberto Zanotti and Strong Kirchheimer 6-0 in No.3 doubles.
Chicago State fell to 0-1 in the spring season while Northwestern improved to 3-0. The Cougars jump right back on the court tomorrow night (Jan. 20) at Western Michigan. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm ET.Â
