It was Murphy's fourth double-double of her career and the sixth straight game in which she scored at least ten points. After freshman Cailin Nix (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville)'s jumper at the 17:04 mark of the first half gave the Cougars a 7-5 lead, the Aggies went on a 28-9 run over the next nine minutes of game action to lead 33-16 with 8:40 to go, their largest lead of the first half.

The Cougars responded with a run of their own, scoring 16 of the next 17 points to cut the deficit to two at 34-32 with 4:31 remaining.  New Mexico State kept the Cougars at bay the rest of half and went into halftime with a 44-36 advantage.

The Aggies expanded on their lead by scoring eight of the first ten points of the second half to lead 52-38 with 16:34 to go. Chicago State cut the deficit to eight at 57-49 after a Tierra Williams (Detroit, Mich./Lathrup) jumper at the 11:40 mark, but couldn't get any closer.  New Mexico State ended the game on a 25-12 run to win by the final score.

Abby Scott led the Aggies with 36 points, making 11 three-pointers. Her teammate Danesia Williamson had 21 points and a team-high eight rebounds for New Mexico State.
