SERIES HISTORY -
Chicago State holds a perfect 7-0 record with Houston Baptist. The Cougars earned a 73-62 victory over the Huskies earlier this year. Three Cougars scored in double-digits with
Paris Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville) scoring a game-high 19 points.
LOOKING FORWARD -
The Cougars will be either the No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the 2013 Great West Conference Tournament. The outcome of Thursday's game at Houston Baptist will not impact the Cougars' hopes for the No. 3 seed. Even if CSU falls to Houston Baptist, a win on Saturday over UTPA would give the Cougars and Broncs identical 3-5 GWC records. Chicago State earns the head-to-head tiebreaker over UTPA thanks to a win over NJIT while UTPA was swept by NJIT.
DESTINATION: WAC 2013-14 -
Chicago State has accepted an invitation to join the Western Athletic Conference. The Cougars will join the WAC for the 2013-14 season. Thanks to UMKC joining the WAC on Thursday (Feb. 7), the membership for the WAC in 2013-14 includes: California State University, Bakersfield; Chicago State University; Grand Canyon University; University of Idaho; University of Missouri Kansas City; New Mexico State University; Seattle University, The University of Texas-Pan American and Utah Valley University.
TWO SIGN NLI's -
Jessica Cerda (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) and Konner Harris (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney) have each signed on to join the Cougars in 2013-14. Cerda is a 5-10 guard who was named a Top 50 player by the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune. Harris is a 5-9 guard broke her school's career 3-point record (133) and single game scoring record (49).
26 FOR TIERRA -
Tierra Williams (Detroit, Mich./Lathrup)' 26 points against Utah Valley (Feb. 23) are the most a single player has scored against Utah Valley in a GWC game this year.
GOES UP TO 11 -
Jackie Jones (Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King)' 11 assists against Utah Valley (Feb. 23) are tied for the most by a GWC player in a game this year.
TAKE IT AWAY -
The Cougars have forced more turnovers than they've committed in eight of the last 11 games.
TIERRA TIME -
Tierra Williams (Detroit, Mich./Lathrup) has already surpassed her point total from last season. As a freshman she recorded 201 points. This year she has already scored 237 points.
PARIS POWER -
Paris Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville) has scored in double-digits in eight of the last 11 games.
PARIS WILLIAMS NAMED GWC POTW -
Paris Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville) took home Great West Conference Player of the Week honors on Jan. 22 for her performance against Nebraska Omaha and NJIT. Williams averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds. She helped CSU to a victory over NJIT with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
SUPER SOPHS -
Sophomores
Paris Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville),
Tierra Williams (Detroit, Mich./Lathrup) and
Chanel Wilson-Stewart (Hillside, Ill./St. Joseph's) have played in all 57 games of their career.
WRITE IT IN INK -

Paris Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville) were named to the 2012-13 Great West Conference Preseason Second Team by a vote of the league's head coaches.
NO RELATION -
If you were wondering, there is no relation between Paris and
Tierra Williams (Detroit, Mich./Lathrup).
IMPORTED FROM DETROIT -
Not surprising, Detroit native Chicago State head coach
Angela Jackson has three Cougars from Detroit on the 2012-13 roster. Freshman
April Watson (Detroit, Mich./University Prep) and sophomores
Tierra Williams (Detroit, Mich./Lathrup) and
Jackie Jones (Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King) all call the Motor City home.
