HOMEWOOD, Ill. – Chicago State men's tennis held their first home Mid-American Conference match of the season on Friday (March 29) evening at the H-F Racquet Club against Western Michigan. The Broncos defeated the Cougars 7-0.
The Broncos earned the doubles point by winning 8-2 at No. 1 doubles and 8-1 at No. 3. In singles play the closest contests were at No. 2 and No. 3. Ruben Greiner topped sophomore
Mario Noboa (Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador/) 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2. Aaron Wong defeated sophomore
Julian Chavez (Bogota, Colombia/) 6-3, 6-2.
“Western Michigan played well,” Chicago State head coach
Jack Barton said. “It wasn't about we did wrong as much as it was about what Western Michigan did correct.”
Western Michigan improves to 16-7 (2-0 MAC). Chicago State falls to 1-16 (0-2 MAC). The Cougars return to the court on Monday (April 1). The start against South Dakota State is set for noon at the HF Racquet Club.
