OXFORD, Ohio – Despite junior Paris Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville)' 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals, the Chicago State women's basketball team fell to Miami (OH) 55-39 on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 16).

The RedHawks jumped out to an 11-2 lead to start the game, but the Cougars managed to fight back. Junior Tierra Williams (Detroit, Mich./Lathrup)' back to back three-pointers cut the deficit to 16-13 with 3:56 left in the first half. CSU's poor shooting in the first stanza (21.4 percent) allowed Miami (OH) to take a 21-15 lead into halftime.

The Mid-American Conference foe started the second half on a 21-6 run and it proved to be too much for the Cougars.

Chicago State created 27 RedHawks turnovers which was an encouraging sign for head coach Angela Jackson

"I thought we had a good defensive effort," said the 11-year head coach. "We're starting to understand help defense and that's always huge."

Jessica Rupright led Miami (OH) with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Nicole Anderson also chipped in 10 rebounds and seven points.

The RedHawks moved to 1-2 on the season while the Cougars fell to 1-2. CSU continues their road trip against Omaha on Monday (Nov. 18).
