Northwestern Defeats Chicago State Women’s Basketball 64-33

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Chicago State women's basketball team fell to Northwestern in a non-conference game 64-33 on Wednesday (Nov. 13).  Junior Chanel Wilson-Stewart (Hillside, Ill./St. Joseph's) led the team with eight points and 14 rebounds.

Wilson-Stewart's 14 rebounds gave her three straight double-digit rebound games.

Northwestern went on a 26-6 run to start the game as the Cougars struggled with 20 turnovers in the first half.

Sophomore Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) grabbed seven rebounds and a steal while scoring four points on the night. Juniors Tierra Williams (Detroit, Mich./Lathrup) and Paris Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville) each chipped in six points and three rebounds in the loss.

The Wildcats had three players in double figures led by Christen Inman's 18 points. Nia Coffrey posted a double double with 17 points, 14 rebounds along with four steals and three blocks.  

Northwestern moves to 2-0 on the season as the Cougars fell to 1-1. Chicago State continues their non-conference schedule with a game at Miami of Ohio on Saturday (Nov. 16).
