Sabrine Navarro (Melbourne, Australia/) led the Chicago State women's tennis team with two wins at the ITA Second Chance Tournament hosted by Northern Illinois University.
Navarro won her singles match over Carly Van Nuland of UW-Green Bay 6-3, 6-1 and her doubles match with sophomore
Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) over Rachel Menos and Lauren Miketinac of UW-Green Bay 8-2.
In other doubles action, sophomore
Gema Bolado Yusta (Madrid, Spain./IES Lázaro Cárdenas) and freshman
Faith Huckabee (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) lost to Ann-Sophie Hahn and Veronica Lacerda of UIC 8-1. Katie Hoch and Helen Rabot of Wisconsin defeated Chicago State freshmen
Kirsa Utech (Nindorf, Germany/Meldorfer Gelehrtenschule) and
Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia/) 8-2.
Utech lost her singles match to Marquette's Ali Dawson 6-0, 6-0 while her doubles partner, Pangestu, was beaten by Ann Sophie Hahn of UIC 7-5, 6-4. Northern Illinois' Cristina Alvarez took out CSU sophomore
Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) 6-4, 6-3.
Freshman
Faith Huckabee (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) suffered a defeat in her singles match to Laia Hernandez of Marquette 6-3, 6-0, while Yusta would go down to Ilse Pachero of Northern Illinois 7-5, 3-6, 6-4.
The Cougars continue the ITA Second Chance Tournament all weekend (Oct. 12-13).
