CHICAGO – The Chicago State women's track & field team continued its outdoor campaign on April 13-14 by placing 12th place at the 23rd-annual Lee Calhoun Invitational, hosted by Western Illinois, in Macomb, Ill.
Marquette claimed the team title by scoring 202 points in the meet.
Leading CSU was sophomore Jaya Emerson (Charlotte, N.C./Hopewell) (Charlotte, N.C.), who recorded two top-10 finishes in the throwing events.
Emerson placed seventh in the discus throw after recording a toss of 120-6 and captured 10th place in the shot put after producing a mark of 39-2.25.
Sophomore Jennifer Sanford (Hammond, IN/Morton) (Hammond, Ind.) finished ninth in the 400-meter dash at a time of 1:02.81.
The Green and White returns to action this weekend at the DePaul Invitational on Chicago's North Side at Lane Stadium.
