Preview: Chicago State Track & Field Ready to Compete at the 116th Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Chicago State University track and field teams are set to compete in the 116th Drake Relays from the Historic Blue Oval from Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa with events already underway. The Cougars are listed to compete in 11 events from April 24 through April 25 represented by 13 individuals and three relay events. The Cougars are competing in the University/College Division in the individual events where the best athletes from across all Division levels will compete against each other. The three Chicago State Relay teams will compete in the University Division against other Division I schools.

Cougars at the Top
Six Cougar events enter the Drake Relays in the top 10 times in their respective events:

• The Women's 4x200 Meter Relay team comes into the Drake Relays with the second fastest seeded time at 1:36.86
• The Women's 4x100 Meter Relay team enters as the nine seed in the event with a 45.71 time.
• Sophomore Earnest Davenport enters the Men's High Jump as the two seed and the second highest clearance of 2.11m this season out of 22 accepted jumpers from across all Divisions in the field. 
• Xavier Beatty enters the weekend as the six seed in the Men's Triple Jump with a seeded mark of 14.72m.
• Beatty also enters the long jump as the nine seed in the competition with a 7.43m mark.
• Reigning NEC Women's Rookie of the Week Makiyah Brewton enters the women's long jump seeded tenth with a mark of 6.00m.
