Missouri Tops Chicago State Women's Basketball 88-55

Jackie Jones finishes a rebound short of a double-double

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Sophomore Jackie Jones (Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King) (Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King) scored a career-high 22 points in Chicago State women's basketball's 88-55 loss at Missouri on Monday (Nov. 12) evening.
 
The Tigers pulled away with 10 consecutive points in the first half. It turned a 10-6 score to a 20-6 advantage. Chicago State was hampered by the Tigers' 53 percent (21-of-39) shooting in the first half. Missouri knocked down 5-of-11 attempts from beyond the arc.
 
Chicago State played with the new Southeastern Conference members in the second half. The Cougars outscored Missouri for most of the second half until foul trouble fueled a late Tigers run to extend their lead.

“I told them at halftime I'm going with the kids that are going to give me energy,” Chicago State head coach Angela Jackson said. “Whether they had played before or not, we were just going to go with the kids who were going to give us energy and effort.”

Jones finished a rebound short of a double-double with nine rebounds and five assists. She made 8-of-11 free throws.
 
Morgan Eye led the Tigers with 16 points.
 
Missouri improves to 2-0. Chicago State falls to 0-2. The Cougars return home on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. start with IU Northwest.
