CHICAGO – The Chicago State men's tennis team concluded its weekend slate in Indiana on Sunday versus Detroit, but the Titans finished the match with a 6-1 victory at IPFW's Kachmann Tennis Center in Fort Wayne. Detroit improved its record to 4-5 and the Cougars fell to 0-8 on the year.
Sophomore Ankit Chpora (Chandigahr, India) recorded a three-set victory at No. 1 singles, defeating Nick Tolomei by scores of 6-3, 4-6, 11-9. Chopra later teamed with fellow sophomore Armaan Choudhary (Chandigarh, India/Mahaveer Public School) (Chandigahr, India) to post an 8-6 win in No. 1 doubles over Pablo Nunez and David Stabley.
Junior Dave Regus (Iasi, Romania/Oakton CC) (Iasi, Romania) also came back from a one-set deficit to play a third-set battle at No. 4 singles to Larry Brown by a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 margin.
The Green and White head to New York this weekend to open Mid-American Conference play Saturday at Buffalo.
