CHICAGO – Senior Janay Dockery (Detroit, MI/Martin Luther King) (Detroit, Mich.) recorded game highs of 22 points and six steals as Chicago State women's basketball closed out a two-game homestand Sunday afternoon with a 73-40 defeat at the hands of visiting Northern Illinois at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.
The Huskies improved to 4-3 on the year with the win while the Cougars dropped to 1-10.
Dockery shot 6-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-6 from three-point range, and connected on 7-of-8 from the free throw line. She also added three rebounds and a blocked shot for the Green and White. Senior Natalie Marlowe (South Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) (South Milwaukee, Wis.) contributed nine points and four assists, and freshman Paris Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville) (St. Louis, Mo.) grabbed five rebounds.
Freshman Claire Jacubicek led Northern Illinois with 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting and a game-leading eight rebounds. Junior Satavia Taylor added 11 points and seven rebounds, and senior Courtney Shelton posted 10 points with a game-high seven assists.
The Cougars hit the road this week to Wisconsin this Thursday night for a non-conference showdown at Milwaukee with a start time of 7 p.m.
