CHICAGO – Senior Natalie Marlowe (South Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) (South Milwaukee, Wis.) recorded 10 points to lead the Chicago State women's basketball team as it opened the 2011-12 season tonight with a 77-34 defeat to visiting Loyola at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.
The Ramblers opened the game with a 14-0 run in the first four-plus minutes en route to a 38-15 halftime lead and cruised in the second half to victory.
Marlowe also added a game-high seven assists, five rebounds and two steals for the Green and White. Senior Janay Dockery (Detroit, MI/Martin Luther King) (Detroit, Mich.) contributed nine points and posted a game-leading two blocked shots, while freshman Jackie Jones (Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King) (Detroit, Mich.) came off the bench to record four steals.
Sophomore Troy Hambric led Loyola with a game-leading 23 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field and produced five steals. Junior Patrice King scored 21 points and had a game-high six steals and freshman Simone Law recorded 15 points. Law and King also tallied a game-high nine rebounds for the Ramblers.
Chicago State returns to action on Monday night as it welcomes Northern Iowa to the Jones Convocation Center with the opening tip set for 7 p.m.
