Men’s Tennis Drops 4-0 Decision to Western Michigan in MAC Tournament

MUNCIE, Ill. – Chicago State men's tennis finished its 2010 campaign here today with a 4-0 to Western Michigan in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament, held at Ball State's Cardinal Creek Tennis Courts. The third-seeded Broncos hiked their season record to 10-10 and the Cougars saw their season close with a record of 0-15.

 

WMU opened the match by winning the doubles point to gain a 1-0 lead. Sophomores Jonathon Majors (Richton Park, Ill.) and Uri Kuyoro (Harvey, Ill.) dropped an 8-0 decision to Pablo Olivarez and Casey Cullen at No. 3 singles. In the No. 2 doubles contest, junior Michael Chew (Klang, Selangor, Malaysia) and sophomore Eric Cuevas (Chicago, Ill.) fell to Kazuda Komada and Zeyad Montasser.

 

Majors opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat to Simon Blomberg at No. 5 singles, while Cuevas fell in his No. 4 singles match to Cullen by identical 6-0 scores. The match concluded with Chew dropping a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Olivarez in the No. 3 singles contest.
