CHICAGO – Four Chicago State players scored in double figures as it claimed a 78-63 win over visiting Texas-Pan American during its annual Homecoming game Saturday afternoon at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center. With the win, the Cougars improved to 10-14 (5-2), while the Lady Broncs dropped to 8-14 (4-2).
Junior Tressa Beckel (Waseca, Minn./Wisconsin) (Waseca, Minn.) led the Cougars with a game-high 18 points and two blocked shots, while senior Alyssa Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) posted 17 points with six steals. Junior Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) added 14 points and sophomore Natalie Marlowe (South Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) (South Milwaukee, Wis.) recorded 12 points with a game-high eight rebounds.
UTPA was led by senior Aleeya Grigsby's 14 points and seven boards on 6-of-8 shooting. Senior Marah Guzman tallied a double-double of 12 assists and 11 points, and senior Rose Esther Jean notched 10 points and two blocks.
The game was also CSU's annual Pink Zone game, sponsored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
CSU returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 11 with a Great West Conference road contest at conference-leading North Dakota.
