CHICAGO - Junior Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) recorded a game-high 20 points on 7of-13 shooting with six rebounds, but visiting Northern Illinois had three players score in double figures as it posted a 66-61 victory over Chicago State in a non-conference women's basketball contest Sunday afternoon at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.
The Cougars dropped to 5-11 on the season, while the Huskies evened their record to 6-6.
Senior Alyssa Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) added nine points and a career-high nine assists for CSU, while junior Caila Desroches (Long Island, NY/Monroe CC) (Long Island, N.Y.) and sophomore Natalie Marlowe (South Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) (South Milwaukee, Wis.) each posted eight points and five boards.
Northern Illinois was led by senior Kylie York's 15 points, six steals and five assists. Redshirt junior Marke Freeman added 13 points and nine rebounds, while redshirt junior Ebony Ellis produced a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
CSU opens Great West Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Utah Valley with the tip-off set for 4:30 p.m., central time.
