Bob Eskew

The 2012 season is Bob Eskew's third as Chicago State’s head volleyball coach. 

2011 saw Chicago State earn several
individual honors. A pair of Cougars won Great West Conference weekly awards on Nov. 15. Alexandra Mason was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Mysta Townsell took home defensive honors. It was Chicago State's first weekly conference player of the week honor since 2004. 

Transfer Rachel Levitt was named to the 2011 All-Newcomer Team.

The honors continued for the CSU volleyball team after the 2011 season as Mazvita Maziveyi received the Great West Conference's Sportsmanship Award.

Eskew's squad earned three Academic All-Great West Conference honorees in 2010.

 

Eskew returned to his alma mater after spending 22 consecutive seasons as head volleyball coach at Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, Ill., and has brought over two decades of knowledge and success to the volleyball program.

Posting 389 wins and 109 losses during his years with the Blazing Trojans, he led the team to seven conference championships, most recently the 2009 Southland Conference title with an impressive 29-3 finish.

 

In 2008, Eskew’s squad held strong against some of Illinois’ top volleyball schools. The Blazing Trojans were 27-8 overall, with a flawless 10-0 record in the Southwest Suburban Conference. 

 

As a coach an admirable leader, Eskew has guided over 100 athletes on to college volleyball careers, including graduates from the University of Cincinnati and the University of Michigan.

 

Adding to his coaching credentials, Eskew has also coached in boys’ basketball in the Chicagoland area. He served as an assistant basketball coach at Bloom from 1987-2010 as well as holding the head coach position for the men’s basketball team at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Ill., during the 1985-1986 season.

 

Prior to spending a short stint as boys’ basketball head coach at Mason City High School in Mason City, Iowa in 1983-84, Eskew lead the T.F. North High School boys’ basketball team from 1982-84, and was an assistant coach at T.F. North from 1978-1982.

 

A Chicagoland native, Eskew earned two degrees from CSU, a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education/Health in 1976 and a Master’s Degree in Special Education in 1988.
