Tawrence Walton heads into his first season as a student assistant coach for the Chicago State men’s basketball team after lettering for two seasons with the Cougars. The Chicago native played small forward and power forward for CSU from 2007-09 while helping the team post a 30-30 record that included a 19-13 record as a senior in 2008-09.

As a senior, Walton averaged 7.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game while playing in all 32 games with 27 starts at forward. He began his CSU career by averaging 6.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in 2007-08 and produced five career (point-rebound) double-doubles.

Prior to CSU, Walton competed for two seasons at Kennedy-King College from 2005-07 and prepped at Kenwood Academy, where he earned All-Public League Red East and All-Public League honors as senior in addition to competing in the Public League and IHSA Class AA state dunk contests in 2005.

Walton is currently completing requirements to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation from CSU.
