Sean Pryor

Chicago native Sean Pryor returns for his fourth season in 2013-14 as an assistant coach for Chicago State men’s basketball. He is in charge of coaching the team's post players and also serves as the recruiting coordinator. In 2011-12, Pryor helped bring in the Cougars' nine-player recruiting class which included five junior college transfers.

In 2010-11, Pryor helped tutor CSU standout Carl Montgomery to receive First Team All-Great West Conference honors. He has brought over six years of collegiate experience to CSU as an assistant coach in the junior college, high school and AAU summer basketball levels.
 
Pryor came to CSU after spending four seasons as an assistant under Corey Tate at his alma mater Mineral Area College, located in Park Hills, Mo. He helped the Cardinals post a 110-49 record during his tenure at MACC in addition to capturing two Midwest Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC) championships and two NJCAA Region 16 title game appearances.
 
During his time at MACC, Pryor recruited and developed 26 players that matriculated to four-year schools with 18 student-athletes moving on to the NCAA Division I level, including two such players to Chicago State in Brandon Hall and Marquis Young (2008-10).
 
Before entering the collegiate ranks, Pryor served as an assistant coach at Walter Payton College Prep under his uncle, former CSU player and head coach Rick Pryor, during the 2005-06 season. He also served as the co-head coach the 15-and-under squad for the Chicago Demons AAU program from 2004-06 while working with his mentor and CSU alum Vince Carter.
 
As a player, Pryor played high school ball at Gordon Tech High School of the Chicago Catholic League and AAU ball for the Chicago Demons before competing at Mineral Area for two seasons under Tim Gray. Following his junior college career, he played at Oregon State University from 1995-97 before playing professional basketball in France and Puerto Rico.
 
Pryor, who currently resides in Chicago’s Hyde Park area, has three children – Kasean (11), Gianna (9) and Olivia (4).
