He was a member of the 2001-02 Hoosiers squad that captured the Big Ten championship and played in the NCAA championship game against Maryland. Soprych later served as the head manager at IU as he supervised and selected a managerial staff to work under him for head coach Mike Davis and the Hoosiers.
Soprych served as an assistant coach for the Adidas Indiana Elite AAU team in the summer of 2004. The Indiana Elite, which featured six players who either signed with or played for Division I schools, posted a 35-11 record in addition to finishing second at the AAU National Shootout and making the elite eight in tournaments at Los Angeles and Las Vegas. He also served as an assistant coach for the Nike Bloomington White AAU squad and was head coach of the AAU Brownstown basketball team in the summer of 2001.
