Rodell Davis

Rodell Davis joined the Chicago State men's basketball program as an assistant coach in November 2018 and was named an associate head coach prior to the start of the 2020-21 season.

A native of south suburban Dixmoor, Illinois, Davis joined CSU after serving as the Athletic Director at Kennedy-King College, a local junior college located in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. In addition to working at KKC, he also worked with former Cougars head coach Lance Irvin as an assistant coach at Chicago's Morgan Park High School where they won back-to-back Illinois High School Association Class 3A state championships.

Davis also worked as an assistant coach at three NCAA Division I schools, Drake, Providence and Loyola Chicago, and NCAA Division III Wisconsin-Platteville. He helped Drake post one of its best seasons in school history with a 28-5 record. That team advanced to the NCAA Tournament, ending a 37-year tournament drought. In his first season at Providence, Davis was part of a Friars coaching staff that won 10 games in Big East Conference play, including a win at top-ranked Pittsburgh, and qualified for the National Invitation Tournament.

Davis also holds head coaching experience at the junior college level at KKC and Laramie County Community College in Wyoming, as well as high school coaching experience at Morgan Park, Thornwood and Proviso East.

A 1992 graduate of the University of Iowa, Davis was a member of three NCAA Tournament teams in four seasons with the Hawkeyes under head coach Dr. Tom Davis. He was a team captain his senior season in 1991-92.
