Celebrating Women's History Month and Title IX's 50th Anniversary

As we celebrate Women's History Month, Chicago State Athletics has launched a monthlong video series highlighting the great historical stories of Chicago State's women's sports. Throughout March, current student-athletes will tell you about these stories below.

We are also celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Title IX, which was adopted in 1972. This legislation is among the most impactful accomplishments of civil rights legislation in America’s history. The law prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in programs or activities in all federally funded educational institutions. According to Bernice Sandler, who spearheaded Title IX, “Title IX is probably the most important law passed for women and girls in Congress since women obtained the right to vote in 1920.”
