CHICAGO, Ill. (February 8, 2026) — Chicago State University (0-6) fell to Illinois State (3-2) 6-1 on Sunday at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club. The Cougars secured their lone singles victory at the No. 4 position.
Illinois State secured the doubles point with victories at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 doubles. Ostro and Scarlett defeated Hoida and Gahagan 6-3 at No. 2 doubles, while Capacci and Logue claimed a 6-0 win against Atkins and Valdes at No. 3 doubles. The No. 1 doubles match between Valencia and Dibildox of Illinois State and Kunaka and Teixeira of CSU remained unfinished at 4-4.
In singles, Illinois State extended its lead as Tomas Valencia defeated
Yurii Hoida 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Adrian Dibildox added another point with a three-set victory over
Chad Valdes, 5-7, 6-2, 10-7, at No. 2 singles. Christian Capacci then won 6-3, 7-5 over
Andrew Kunaka at No. 3 singles.
Chicago State picked up a point at No. 4 singles, where
Joao Teixeira overcame Tin Ostro in an unfinished match with a scoreline of 6-3, 2-4, 96-0. However, Illinois State closed out the overall match as Jett Leong secured a 6-2, 6-2 win over
Reed Gahagan at No. 5 singles, and Caden Scarlett defeated
Justin Atkins 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
