CHICAGO, Ill. — Chicago State University defeated Southern University 4-0 on Saturday at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club. Chicago State University secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions and swept the top three singles matches.

Joao Teixeira and
Justin Atkins quickly dispatched Southern University's Lwazi Nywenya and Mpho Leshoele with a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles. Following suit,
Andrew Kunaka and
Chad Valdes clinched the point with a 6-2 win over Sebastien Byng and Zachery Byng at No. 2 doubles. The match on court three remained unfinished, with
Yurii Hoida and
Reed Gahagan leading 5-4 against Gabriel Inyang and Jaime Sigauque.
In singles,
Chad Valdes opened the scoring for Chicago State with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win over Lwazi Nywenya at No. 1 singles.
Yurii Hoida followed with another straight-sets victory for the Cougars, defeating Sebastien Byng 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Teixeira sealed the overall win with a decisive 6-0, 6-2 result against Gabriel Inyang at No. 3 singles. Matches on courts four, five, and six were left unfinished.
