MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Chicago State (0-6) fell to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (1-2) 6-1 on Tuesday at River Glen Elite. The Cougars secured a singles victory at the No. 5 position.
Chicago State dropped the doubles point as they faced strong opposition on the courts. The pair of
Camila Sanchez and
Karolina Skowronska were defeated at No. 1 doubles with a score of 0-6. At No. 2 doubles,
Mackenzie King and
Nikita Liyanage also fell short, finishing 1-6. The No. 3 doubles team of
Nadjema Morille and
Danina Hughes concluded their match 4-6.
In singles play, CSU's
Danina Hughes secured a victory at No. 5 singles with a straight-set win, 6-1, 6-3. However, the remainder of the singles matches did not go in favor of the Cougars. Skowronska put up a competitive performance at No. 1 singles but ultimately fell 6-7(4), 5-7. Sanchez competed at No. 2 singles, ending her match at 2-6, 1-6.
King, competing at No. 3 singles, also faced a challenging match, finishing 2-6, 4-6. Liyanage's efforts at No. 4 singles concluded with a 2-6, 2-6 result. At No. 6 singles, Morille was defeated 1-6, 0-6.
