Chicago State Battles Le Moyne, Falls 72–57 at Home

CHICAGO, Ill. (January 17, 2026)  — Chicago State (2-16, 0-5 NEC) fell to Le Moyne (8-10, 3-2 NEC) with a final score of 72-57 on Saturday at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center. The Cougars managed to lead at halftime, 34-30, but were outscored 42-23 in the second half.
 
The game commenced with CSU taking an early lead, as Corey Sands sank a 3-pointer just 33 seconds into the half, assisted by Doyel Cockrill III. The Cougars' Braelon Bush extended the lead with another 3-pointer at 17:36, prompting Le Moyne to call a timeout. Despite Le Moyne's attempts to catch up, including a key layup by Shilo Jackson at 11:35, Chicago State maintained their edge. The half closed with Marcus Tankersley scoring a layup with seven seconds left, securing a 34-30 advantage for the Cougars.
 
Le Moyne pulled ahead in the second half, securing a 72-57 victory over Chicago State. The half featured a strong performance from Le Moyne's Trent Mosquera, who contributed with a crucial fastbreak dunk and a 3-pointer, extending their lead. CSU's Tankersley responded with a series of layups, but it wasn't enough to halt Le Moyne's momentum. Tennessee Rainwater's consistent scoring from the free-throw line further solidified Le Moyne's advantage. Despite the Cougars' efforts, Le Moyne maintained control, outscoring the home team 42-23 in the final half.
 
Tankersley led the offensive effort with 20 points, converting 9 of 15 field goal attempts. Cockrill III contributed 14 points, making four 3-pointers out of six attempts. Bush facilitated the offense with 10 assists and added seven rebounds. Malek Robinson made a defensive impact with three steals.
 
In their next game, the Cougars will host the University of New Haven on Monday, Jan. 19. The matchup will tip off at 6 p.m. at Jones Convocation Center.
