SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Chicago State women's soccer team traveled to the east coast to battle Le Moyne College in the NEC opener for the Cougars. Chicago State continues to show promise on the season and with the competitive NEC schedule now underway, the Cougars will look to make a statement in the NEC. After falling behind 2-1 at halftime, a late goal in the second half by
Renee Davis was the equalizer to force a draw between the Cougars and Dolphins to open up the conference schedule.
The Cougars suffered an early deficit in the first half falling behind 1-0. That was until a goal by
Maya Dixon forced the tie in the 24th minute with the assist by
Renee Davis. After another Le Moyne reponse, the Cougars went into the halftime break with a 2-1 deficit. The Cougars played great defense in the second half, blanking the Dolphins holding them to four shots in the second half. The game tying goal came from
Renee Davis in the early stages of the half to tie the game 2-2.
Aviana Gutierrez logged two more saves on the season in all 90 minutes of game time.

Alexis Boyer all had scoring chance putting at least one shot on goal. Substitutes,
Tara Savage and
Ameerah Kolleff also had shot attempts for the Cougars.

With the draw, Chicago State now has a 2-3-4 overall record and now have a 0-0-1 record to open up NEC play. The Cougars return to action on Thursday, September 25 when they return home to battle Central Conneticut State from the Kroc Corps Community Center. Kickoff is set for 5:00 PM (CT).
