MACOMB, Ill. – Chicago State volleyball showed grit and resilience Friday afternoon, competing against Missouri in the Leatherneck Classic at Western Hall. Despite falling in straight sets (25-9, 25-8, 25-15), the Cougars had strong stretches of play that highlighted their progress and fight.
Nia Cummings paced the attack with a team-high four kills, while
Zeynep Ertam added two kills and a block to spark the front line.
Jocelyn Carter and
Nayella George each chipped in a pair of kills, with George also making an impact at the net with two block assists.
Defensively,
Leah Linares Castro anchored the back row with a team-leading 10 digs, while libero Eliza Covrig provided steady support with four digs of her own. Chicago State tallied six total team blocks, showcasing its ability to slow down Missouri's offense at the net.
The Cougars will look to build on today's effort as they continue play in the Leatherneck Classic tomorrow.
