Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. – Chicago State men's soccer showed grit and resilience in a tough road matchup at Flames Field, ultimately falling 2-0 to undefeated UIC on Thursday night.
The Cougars went toe-to-toe with one of the Horizon League's top programs, creating seven shots with three on frame while earning five corner kicks. Hilary Odhiambo led the attack with three attempts, including two on target, while Saul Silva and Owen Santos each generated quality opportunities to test the Flames' defense.
In goal, Johan Rodriguez Morales turned in a standout performance, recording 10 saves and keeping the Cougars within striking distance throughout the contest. His quick reactions and command of the box frustrated a UIC offense that entered the night averaging over two goals per match.
UIC struck late in the first half with a goal in the 41st minute and added a second in the 64th, but Chicago State continued to press forward, pushing the tempo in the final third and forcing the Flames to stay alert defensively.
The Cougars will look to carry the positives from tonight's effort into their next match as they continue to build momentum and confidence heading deeper into non-conference play.
