CHICAGO – The Chicago State Cougars delivered a commanding performance on their home court, rolling past Le Moyne 76-60 at the Emil and Patricia A. Jones Convocation Center. The Cougars controlled the game from the opening tip, never trailing after the first quarter and leading for over 34 minutes.
Chicago State (4-23, 4-8 NEC) showcased a balanced offensive attack, with four players scoring in double figures. Josie Hill led the way with a dominant 16-point, 14-rebound double-double, anchoring the Cougars on both ends of the floor. Aiyanna Culver added 16 points and a game-high six assists, while Kace Urlacher and Tally Williams contributed 15 points apiece.
The Cougars jumped out to an early 22-17 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. A 10-0 scoring run in the opening frame helped Chicago State seize control, and they maintained their intensity through the second quarter, outscoring Le Moyne 22-13 to take a 44-30 lead into halftime.
Chicago State's defensive effort was pivotal in securing the victory. The Cougars forced 20 Le Moyne (4-20, 4-7 NEC) turnovers and turned them into 22 points, showing their ability to capitalize on mistakes. Their transition game was also on full display, racking up eight fast-break points.
The Cougars extended their lead to as many as 25 points late in the third quarter, closing the period up 65-43. Though Le Moyne made a slight push in the fourth quarter, Chicago State's defense held firm, limiting the Dolphins' efficiency and securing a well-earned win.
