CHICAGO, Ill. - The Chicago State women's track and field team opened their season on Friday night at Gately Park hosting the annual Cougar Alumni Open. The Cougars claimed the team title with scoring 99 team points and showed their strengths throughout the competition and came away with five event winners and many top five finishers.
Four event winners emerged in the early stage in the field events, with freshman
Demya McClure winning the weight throw with a mark of 15.04 meters. Her throws teammate,
Bryanna Boroze claimed the shot put title with a throw of 12.48 meters. Sophomore jumper
Lena Cleveland won the triple jump with a distance of 11.32 meters. Freshman high jumper
Makiyah Brewton won the high jump competition with a leap of 1.65m. The champion on the track came from freshman
Aliyah Ferguson winning the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.85 seconds.
