Bowling Green, Ohio (December 16, 2025) – The Chicago State men's basketball team put together a spirited performance on the road Tuesday night, battling for 40 minutes before falling 76–55 to Bowling Green at the Stroh Center.
The Cougars showcased resilience and balance, with several players stepping up offensively.
Doyel Cockrill III led the way with a game-high 19 points, knocking down two three-pointers and converting 9-of-12 from the free throw line.
CJ Ray added 10 points, while
Marcus Tankersley chipped in nine. Chicago State's bench provided a spark, contributing 27 points, highlighted by strong efforts from
Stephen Byard (7 rebounds, 4 points) and
Joseph Owens (4 rebounds, 2 points).
Defensively, the Cougars battled on the glass, pulling down 38 rebounds, including 14 on the offensive end, which led to 10 second-chance points. Chicago State also forced Bowling Green into 10 turnovers, turning them into six points. The Cougars showed flashes of momentum, including a 7–0 run midway through the second half that cut into the Falcons' lead.
Bowling Green, now 8–3, was paced by Sam Towns' 19 points and 11 rebounds. Despite the Falcons' hot shooting, Chicago State continued to compete, holding their own in stretches and finding success in the paint with 22 points inside.
