ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Chicago State men's basketball put together a strong offensive showing in its first road test of the 2025-26 season, falling to Saint Louis 108-86 on Thursday night inside Chaifetz Arena.
The Cougars displayed balance across the board, with five players scoring in double figures.
Dailliss Cox led the way with an efficient 19 points on 8-for-8 shooting while adding eight rebounds.
Stephen Byard and
Marcus Tankersley each chipped in 15 points apiece, with Byard going 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
Braelon Bush added 12 points and three assists, while
CJ Ray provided a spark off the bench with eight points.
Chicago State shot 80 percent from the free throw line (28-for-35) and connected on six three-pointers in the first half to stay within striking distance of the Billikens, trailing 51-40 at the break. The Cougars continued to show resilience in the second half, posting 46 points and improving their field-goal percentage to 43.8 percent after halftime.
Defensively, the Cougars forced 15 Saint Louis turnovers and turned them into 16 points, while also scoring 24 fast-break points.
Chicago State will next travel to Indianapolis, Indiana on Tuesday, November 11 for non-conference play. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
