Brookville, N.Y. — Chicago State men's soccer put together a strong team effort and generated several quality scoring chances in Sunday's matchup at Long Island University, ultimately falling 3–0 to the Sharks in Brookville.
The Cougars matched the Sharks in total shots (9–9) and finished with nearly even possession, holding 48% of the ball while earning three corner kicks on the day. Chicago State applied consistent second-half pressure, recording seven of their nine shots after the break as they looked to cut into the LIU lead.
Arafath Ouro-Gnao led the Cougars' attack with three shots, while
Joshua Ceniceros and
Zephyn Brockert-Kress each added a pair, with both testing the goalkeeper.
Johan Rodriguez Morales made a pair of saves in goal to anchor the back line.
Despite the result, the Cougars' persistence and second-half energy showcased their growth and resilience as the season progresses.
Chicago State (1–14–0, 1–6–0) will host its final home game of the season on Thursday, November 6 as they host New Haven. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm.
