Box Score CHICAGO — Chicago State volleyball showed plenty of fight Friday evening at the Jacoby Dickens Center, taking a set and pushing visiting New Haven in multiple tight frames before falling 3–1 (25–27, 25–18, 17–25, 25–16).
Junior Zeynep Ertam led the Cougars' offensive attack with a team-high 14 kills, adding 14 assists and eight digs for an impressive all-around effort. Nayella George followed with 16 kills and five digs, while Leah Linares Castro delivered a strong two-way performance with 12 digs, five kills, and a .294 hitting percentage.
Setter Alyssa Ferreira ran the offense effectively, distributing 33 assists while also contributing a team-best 14 digs on the defensive end. Vasiliki Dagre chipped in with 10 digs and three service aces, providing energy from the back row.
After dropping a competitive opening set in extra points, the Cougars responded with a dominant 25–18 win in the second frame—highlighted by strong serving runs and a .171 team hitting percentage. Chicago State carried that momentum throughout the match, keeping rallies alive and challenging the Chargers with balanced play across the lineup.
