CHICAGO, Ill. - The Chicago State women's soccer team returned to action on Sunday to battle the current conference leader Farleigh Dickinson Knights in a NEC home matchup. The Cougars showed great poised in the early minutes but ran out of gas after playing most of the match with only ten players on the field. FDU took advantage to hold the Cougars off as the Knights took the match 4-0.
In the early minutes, Chicago State controlled the game on the offensive end getting three shots off in the eight minutes of the match putting pressure on the Knights, forcing then to play on their own defensive end.

Saige Thor had the three shots for the Cougars. After two quick yellow cards by the Cougars, the Knights forced the Cougars to play down a player for nearly 70 minutes of game action. The tide turned as the Knights converted a first half penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead at the half. The Cougars continued show fight throughout the match. With

Leah Rocha putting a shot on goal for the Cougars. FDU took advantage of the man down, and put three more goals together to pull away to beat Chicago State 4-0.
Aviana Gutierrez made 11 saves on the day with all 90 minutes played.Â

Chicago State now falls to 2-7-5 on the season and a 0-4-2 record in the NEC. The Cougars will return to action on Sunday, October 19Â at home to battle Howard University from Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep with a 1:00 PM (CT) kickoff time.Â
