Box Score The Chicago State volleyball team captured their first victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Evansville Friday morning at the Meeks Family Fieldhouse in Evansville, Indiana. The Cougars earned a hard-fought first-set win as the Aces faced six set points before CSU came away with the 25-22 victory. Chicago State scored seven of the last eight points in a game two victory and had a chance for a sweep but Evansville rallied from a 23-17 deficit for a 26-24 win to extend the match. CSU won 25-19 in the fourth and deciding match.
Patrycja Lagida and
Zahara Quraishi both had 18 kills to lead Chicago State.
Karly Klaer added 11 kills and both Klaer and Quraishi led the team with 14 digs.
Wiktoria Zagumny led all players with 42 assists while
Berenice Almeyda had three blocks and
Julieta Sandez had two.
The Cougars will take a slight break before returning to the court this afternoon, at 4 p.m., to face Miami, Ohio, in their second match of the Dunn Hospitality Tournament hosted by Evansville.
