Cougars Volleyball Wrap Up Indiana Invitational With 3-1 Win Over Southern Indiana

Box Score The Chicago State volleyball team wrapped up play in the Indiana Invitational with a convincing 3-1 over Southern Indiana Sunday afternoon at Wilkinson Hall in Bloomington, Indiana. 

The Cougars never trailed in a game one victory, going on a 9-0 run to go from an 8-8 tie to a 17-8 advantage. Chicago State also never trailed in a 25-21 game two victory, taking advantage of a 6-0 run although Southern Indiana staved off four consecutive set points before Patrycja Lagida helped seal the game with a kill. The Screaming Eagles opened the scoring in the third game which featured nine ties but USI scored 10 of the final 12 points for a 25-21 game four win to extend the match. The Cougars broke open a tight game four match with a six-point run and 9-of-11 streak and finished off the Screaming Eagles 25-18 for a 3-1 win.

Patrycja Lagida led all players in kills with 16, followed by Zahara Qurishi with 14 and Karly Klaer with 13. Andrea Calderon had 25 digs and Wiktoria Zagumny led all players with with 45 assists.

The Cougars will be back on the court Monday, September 16 at 6 p.m., making their home debut against UIC at the Jones Convocation Center in Chicago.
