Hilary Odhiambo scored a goal in the 81st minute and assisted on
Danail Sergiev's goal in the 83rd, but the comeback fell short in a 4-2 loss at NIU Sunday night in DeKalb.
The Huskies opened the scoring in the 28th minute but Cougers goalkeeper
Lucas Fontana made five saves to keep CSU in the game and Chicago State trailed by just one at the half, 1-0. NIU pressure led to three scores in the 62nd, 71st and 78th minute to take a commanding 4-0 lead before Odhiambo found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 4-1. A little over two minutes later Odhiambo fed Segiev who converted a goal for the eventual final of 4-2.
The Cougars will be back in action Friday, August 30, traveling to Cleveland, Ohio to face Cleveland State at 6 p.m. at Krenzler Field in Cleveland.
