Chicago State Women’s Tennis Team's Historic Season Closes With Regional Loss at Michigan

Box Score The historic Chicago State women's tennis team's 2024 season ended today with a 4-0 loss at No. 3 Michigan in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This Cougars season began with a 3-9 record but the resilient squad turned things around and won 13 of their final 14 matches to capture their first regular season title, first Horizon League Tournament title and first NCAA Women's Tennis Championship berth. The team was also recognized at the conference level as head coach Jack Barton was named Horizon League Women's Coach of the Year, Manuella Eloundou earned Women's Tennis All-League First Team and Katarina Dukic and Sofiya Sedovich were named Women's Tennis All-League Second Team. 

In Saturday's match, the Wolverines showed why they're considered on of the top teams in the country. Michigan won the doubles point with victories at No. 3 and 1, leaving the No. 2 teams on the court where Ethel Li and Sofiya Sedovich trailed 5-4. In singles, the Wolverines swept to wins at No. 1, 2 and 5 to close out the match and the 4-0 victory.

Chicago State's season ends with a 16-13 record, which includes an 8-1 Horizon League mark and a 10-4 record at home.
